What you can do on Zinsta: posts, reels and DMs
You can post photos, publish short video, follow people, leave comments, watch lives, and message someone when the rules allow it. This is what that layer actually does, and where it stops.
The feed has to be real, not a brochure. People want to see how someone talks before they follow. Creators want a place that is theirs, not only a button.
Posts and reels, without the usual tricks
A post is a photo. A reel is a short video. You publish from the Android app (camera or gallery) or from zinsta.app (file upload). Captions and #tags are optional. There is no “boost this for Rs 500” switch on the composer. If a post is doing well, it is because people stayed on it, not because a slider said so.
View counts are honest in a way most apps are not. Watching the same reel on a loop does not mint a new viewer. Shares and profile taps from one person on one post count once. We did this because inflated numbers make creators price themselves on a lie, and fans smell it. If a count looks small, it probably is small. That is the point.
#tags that a lot of different people actually use can surface in the main feed as trending. Five people repeating the same tag under one author does not make it hot. We look at different people and more than one author. Gaming a tag with a group chat will waste your evening.
The feed is not “latest first” and it is not a slot machine
Signed-in, the home feed is ranked. Newer accounts and guests see newest published posts so the app is not empty on day one. Once you watch, skip, follow and talk, the ranking has something to work with. It mixes people you already follow with things it thinks you will actually finish.
You can still open Explore and Reels as a vertical list. Reels autoplay when they are on screen. Pause is a tap. There is no fake live badge on a pre-recorded clip.
Comments under a reel are not a newest-first dump either. A useful reply can sit above a pile of emoji if people are actually reading it. That sounds like a small thing until you have tried to have a conversation under a video that already has two hundred “🔥”.
Follows, people, and who can DM you
Everyone can follow. Creator or fan. Profiles are public enough to browse, private enough that a stranger cannot dump a chat on you.
Free DMs need a mutual follow, or they sit as a request until the other person accepts. That is the line. It is also how we keep the inbox from turning into the comment section people were trying to escape.
Find people is a separate tab. Suggestions come from people you already overlap with, city (a rough network location, not GPS stalking), and interests. You can search. You can ignore the lot. Nobody gets a push that says “X viewed your profile” from this list.
What you should not post
Zinsta is 18+. That is not a mood. It is the account. Still, “adult platform” is not a free-for-all. Sexual content, harassment, and anything involving anyone under 18 is banned. We scan uploads. Uncertain cases go to a person. Clear violations come down. If you are a creator, read the creator terms before you treat the camera like a second Instagram with the safety off.
Music: if the reel is your own voice, that is fine. If you laid a commercial track under it, copyright stays with the owner. We take notices. Repeat uploads of other people’s songs will get the post removed and, eventually, the account. The copyright page is the form, not a DM to a random intern.
How this ties back to talking to people
The useful path is boring, which is why it works. Follow someone. Watch a few posts so you know if their tone is for you. Leave a comment or send a short request. Watch a live if they go on.
Do not use a reel comment to ask someone to “WhatsApp me for a private call”. We filter that. If a profile is asking you to pay JazzCash to a personal number, it is a scam. Report it. The longer version of that warning is in staying safe on Zinsta.
Creators: what the social layer is not
It is not a replacement for YouTube or TikTok, and we will not pretend it is. Use those for reach if that is where your people already are. Use Zinsta to post, go live and talk to the people who already watch you.
Posts themselves do not pay you per view. Live gifts and Celebrity Rewards, when they run, do. Watch rewards for fans stay off until we can run them without turning the feed into sludge. If someone in a Facebook group says otherwise, they have not opened the app.
Frequently asked questions
Can I post on Zinsta from a browser?
Yes. Open zinsta.app, sign in, and upload a photo or a short video. Recording with the fancy camera filters is Android-only for now.
Why can I not message this creator?
Free DMs need a mutual follow, or they sit as a request. If they have not accepted, watch the feed and comment. Do not try to slide in on WhatsApp.
Are view counts real?
A person counts once per post for a view, no matter how many times they replay it. We would rather show a small true number than a large decorative one.
Is Zinsta only for paid calls?
No. Zinsta does not sell timed private sessions. Posts, reels, lives, follows and DMs are the product. Download on Google Play or open zinsta.app.
